Ecolabels apply to our products and allow our customers to get clear and visible information about the products they buy.
The European Ecolabel is a voluntary ecolabel scheme established in1992 by the European Commission. It is based on a "global", systemic approach, which includes a life cycle analysis of the product, from its manufacture (including the choice of raw materials) to its disposal or recycling, including its distribution, consumption and use. Since 2009, Lyreco uses the EU Ecolabel for its own branded products.
The Nordic Ecolabel or Nordic Swan is the official sustainability ecolabel for the Nordic countries. A Nordic Swan labelled product must follow a certain set of standards, including environmental, quality and health criteria. In 2017, Lyreco selected this label for its remanufactured toner cartridges.
The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and the PEFC are environmental labels whose purpose is to ensure that the production of wood-based products (mostly paper) comply with procedures that ensure sustainable forest management. In 2018, Lyreco became a member of FSC international.

SEDEX (Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit) is the world’s biggest collaborative platform to share responsible sourcing data on supply chains. It is used in over 150 countries by more than 43,000 members. In 2013, Lyreco selected SMETA as a validated standard for the social accountability audits of the factories that manufacture Lyreco branded products.
The Business Social Compliance Initiative is a leading supply chain management system that supports companies in their drive towards social compliance and to make improvements at the factories in their global supply chains. In 2013, Lyreco selected BSCI as a validated standard for the social accountability audits of the factories that manufacture Lyreco branded products.
Ecovadis is an internationally recognized sustainability rating company which rated 90,000 companies in 2021, on 4 fields: Environment, Labor & Human rights, Sustainable procurement, Ethics. In 2022, Lyreco has been awarded with the Ecovadis Gold medal with a score of 73/100, reaching the top 2% companies ranking.
We commit to international initiatives that focus on implementing ethical and responsible practices in our markets
The United Nations Global Compact, launched in 2000, is both a policy platform and a voluntary framework for businesses that are dedicated to sustainability and responsible business practices. In 2004, Lyreco was the first company in the Office Supplies industry to join the UN Global compact. Since then we keep on strengthening our commitment publishing the Sustainable Development report on the Global Compact platform every year.
The New York Declaration on Forests is a voluntary partnership of governments, companies, indigenous communities, organizations and NGOs who strive to halve deforestation by 2020 and to end it by 2030. By joining the declaration, companies like Lyreco commit to creating responsible partnerships with forest countries and taking deforestation out of their supply chains, tipping the balance against forest disappearance.
The United Nations Human Rights Club is a place of exchange and expertise for the members to jointly advance and act on this topic. In 2017, Lyreco joined the Human Rights Club of the UN Global Compact, reinforcing its commitment towards prevention, management and development of Human Rights by companies.
