Demand and Supply Planning Manager

Lyreco Benelux serves over 4500 customers each day from its warehouse in Vottem (near Liège), and via deliveries directly from our suppliers to our customers.
We manage the demand & supply for a product portfolio of ~30000 SKU's. At the moment we have ~14M€ worth of inventory in our Vottem warehouse. The number of SKU's and stock level will increase in the coming years, as we are expanding our offering.

Within Lyreco Benelux we have engaged on a journey to develop our planning function from a basic transactional approach, to a true demand & supply planning activity.
In order to support our development we are looking for our next Demand & Supply Planning Manager.
Reporting directly to Supply Chain Director, the Demand & Supply Planning manager manages the activities of the Demand & Supply Planning Team, and represents the Planning function and the Supply Chain organization internally and externally.

Reporting directly to Supply Chain Director, the Demand & Supply Planning manager manages the activities of the Demand & Supply Planning Team, and represents the Planning function and the Supply Chain organization internally and externally.

What does your day look like?

  • In the first months into the job, a lot of time and energy will go on building the right processes for demand planning, inventory management, supply planning, supplier performance management & establishing a S&OP Process. This implies starting off with basic tools, and a team of transactional experts, and developing both tools and people to the next level. You will be able to actively use your skills on process re-engineering and change management.

  • You will be a key lead for the implementation of a more advanced planning system.

  • You will lead the Demand and Supply Planners as well as the Invoice Processing / Admin support in their respective roles and responsibilities

  • You initiate, build and take active leadership in Sales & Operations Planning and Sales & Operations Execution

  • You are accountable for managing an adequate level of inventory, identifying and minimizing inventory risk, maximising inventory quality and identifying and actioning obsolete inventory.

  • You will be a true Business Partner for Sales, Marketing and Suppliers to ensure the best balance between availability, operational efficiency and working capital. This involves e.g. managing processes for choices between stocking and cross docking SKU's, stock targets, order quantities, etc.

  • You will be in close collaboration with Customer Service, Warehouse and Transport to optimise operational efficiency of receiving, plan and manage stock holding capacity and minimize operational impact of backorders

  •  You manage the performance of suppliers, and take action / manage compensation in case of underperformance

  • You will have the ownership of the operational execution of the Product Life Cycle

  • Together with the team, you manage the communication with the sales organisation, CSO and customers on product availability.

  • In order to drive our efficiency, you  identify and animate the right performance metrics for the Demand & Supply Planning functions

  • As part of the journey, you develop, coach, support and manage the performance of the team.

  • Backorder Level and duration

  • Stock cover and value Stock

  • Risk & € Scrapped

  • Ratings in Employee Surveys

Who are we looking for

  • Language knowledge : French, English, Dutch

  • You have a university degree in a technical background (e.g. supply chain, engineering, maths, computer sciences, etc.)

  • Strong verbal and visual communication skills, ability to connect with different levels of the organisation

  • Strong leader: good people management experience to recruit, develop & retain people, motivate them + manage their performance. You enjoy coaching and passing on your knowledge to your team.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in demand & supply planning, in organisations with a high level of maturity, systems & tools. We are looking for someone who can drive our planning function to the next level. This implies that you are able to start with the basics in terms of process & tools, and get your energy from developing and upgrading, step by step.

  • Strong experience in supplier management: contracting, management of performance

  • Good structure and experience in cross functional project management

  • Strong analytical skills. Good business acumen. Insight in financial metrics.

  • You are expert in use of standard office tools, including superior knowledge of Excel. Next to that SAP and advanced planning systems have no secret for you.

  • You are agile in managing your day-to-day work, while not getting lost in (only) operational activities. You are combining operational focus with tactical & strategic (mid and long term) vision & work.

  • You have a good sense of organisation and you have no difficulty prioritising your tasks. 

  • You stay on top of what is happening in supply chain: new tools, views, processes. You bring innovation that into the organisation, at a human scale.
