Engineering Manager (M/W)

Lyreco is now on the journey upgrading and digitalizing its application landscape to achieve a bold strategy to expand its business offering and attract new customers.  Foundational to this ambition is to build our business solutions on top of modern, scalable service-based integration layer. As the Engineering Manager your mission will be to support a team of high performing developers and tech leads responsible for creation of integration services.

Key accountabilities:

  • Manage a growing team of developers.  Currently the team is 6 and is expected to grow to 11 in the coming months and even more by the end of 2023.
  • Establish a solid management support structure for the team to alleviate stress and administrative work so the team can focus on what they do best – develop software.
  • Continuously provide context of how the development work the team is doing is aligned with the company strategy and objectives, to ensure the business result is achieved.
  • Work closely key business stakeholders, primarily Product Owners in all functions, to both understand their priorities, but also challenge them to ensure business value is created from the work done by the development team.
  • Provide fierce leadership to defend the team, especially, during moments of external chaos and stress, but also challenge the team to improve how they react and manage themselves during times of chaos and stress.
  • Create and foster a highly effective environment in the development squad, which also includes scrum masters, service owner, system analysts.
  • Drive all aspects of talent acquisition, onboarding and development.
  • Work with each team member to create and monitor key performance and growth plans, including career path plan that includes training, new challenges and coaching needs.
  • Work with senior leaders to explain the value the integration team delivers, but also outlines the resource and support needed from senior leaders.

Requirements

  • Naturally a positive person.
  • Confident leader that can push back and say ‘no’ when needed.
  • Proven ability to be highly engaged with team members, actively listening, and addressing concerns before it becomes a problem.
  • Experience in managing technically strong developers, even if you don’t have these technical skills.
  • Experience in managing complex projects or workstreams inside larger programs.
  • Experience and awareness of software development methodologies, especially agile.
  • Great communication skills – discussing and consulting problems with team members, senior leaders and product owners.
  • Able to communicate in English (both written and verbal).
  • Able to work in cross geographical teams.

Nice to have:

  • Experience within system integration domain.
  • Experience with delivery of solution architecture.
  • Experience with Devops.
  • Experience with working with cloud: Azure/AWS/Google Cloud.
  • Understanding of microservices architecture.
  • Understanding of Domain Driven Design.
  • Able to communicate verbally in French.
