This should be the main driver / objective of the Product Quality & Compliance Manager.
As part of that, the Product Quality & Compliance Manager:
Works with technical and independent support towards the Marketing/Purchasing Department.
has to be a pedagogic expert, who can turn complex quality and product compliance issues into efficient and applicable action plans.
engage key stakeholders in the business with the testing plans & product specifications, ensuring products are being well defined and tested to meet the overall business strategy on quality.
is part of the Group Compliance department, and must therefore contribute to the definition & application of the department’s strategy and practices.
As Product Quality & Compliance Manager, you are expected to:
Structure, develop and formalize internal processes and standards on quality and product compliance (e.g. product specifications, product quality policy & dashboard, product testing).
Research and stay up to date on materials, test methods, product care, legislation, labeling, chemicals, sustainability and other business standards related to the products.
Manage the product quality & compliance policy and dashboard, including the investigation and follow-up of customer claims & disputes on an aggregated level.
Follow-up the legal mapping / requirements per product category – at the country level, depending on the Lyreco position (i.e. Importer, Manufacturer).
Partner with independent 3rd parties / laboratories to ensure testing methodology aligns with mandatory regulatory compliance as well as Lyreco’s own internal compliance expectations.
Review product testing issues and failures related to safety standards, regulatory compliance and quality.
Hold all parties accountable (Purchasers, Category Directors, GPM, GPA) for understanding and complying with standards.
Hold suppliers and 3rd parties accountable for understanding and executing the product testing program.
Follow-up of possible product recalls and withdrawals.
Qualifications and Skills:
Academic degree in product engineering/manufacturing or similar technical education.
Minimum 3 years work experience from similar positions, preferable within a distribution context (e.g. retailer or B2B distributor).
Especially, 2-4 years' operational experience in product testing, safety and regulatory compliance are required.
Extensive knowledge on chemical and quality testing standards.
Excellent problem solving skills and result oriented mindset.
Strong knowledge of statistical process controls.
Structured, ambitious and eager to take own initiatives.
Cross functional working, ability to influence.
Strong communication skills in written and spoken English.
