5 figures about… green products

Purchasing environmentally friendly products is a key towards greener workplaces. It requires clear information that eases identification and selection. Lyreco’s assessment process enables customers to trust the products they buy.

Our green products assessment complies with the international standard ISO 14020, the highest level of ISO Environment Claims standards. They must meet several criteria (compostable, degradable, long-term use…) and/or be labelled with eco-responsible standards such as FSC or Ecolabel.

Our assessment process follows an SGS approved methodology and relies on a close partnership between 3 stakeholders: our suppliers and our QSS and marketing teams. By working together, they are the guarantors of ethical and fair certification of our products.

It has been almost 10 years since we included a complete range of green products in our offer. From 2010 to 2019, we have increased the number of green items from XX to XX, offering more and more sustainable-preferred options to our customers.

In 2019, XX% of our sales (common range products) were made with green products (+XX% within 6 years).

We provide our customers with 5 ways to support their green purchasing:

  1. Easy identification through specific icons
  2. Sales force advice
  3. Carbon footprint calculator with up-to-date direct and indirect Lyreco CO2 emission evaluation
  4. Dedicated green catalogue in some countries
  5. Online eco-filters to find green products among a pre-selection of products, and replace classic items with green ones in your shopping cart

Why We Should Generalize Environmental Footprint

Since 2015, Lyreco, the leading European distributor and third largest global distributor of workplace solutions for businesses has been involved in a European project initiated by the European Commission: the EU Product Environmental Footprint (EU PEF).

In 2019, a major step has been taken: Lyreco was the first BtoB company to publish the environmental performance of its own brand product: Lyreco Laundry Liquid through the EU Product Environmental Footprint.
